Install

• Click Add to Chrome or Add to Edge on the home page and confirm.
• The Rules page opens with a Try it box: paste anything to see what Tidewall catches.
• Pin Tidewall to your toolbar (the puzzle-piece icon › pin) to see today’s numbers.

Change what happens to each kind of data

Toolbar icon › Rules. Choose Allow, Warn, Redact or Block for each row. Add your own words under Your own words: # stands for a digit and * for letters or digits, so ACME-CL-##### matches every client code.

Something wasn’t caught, or was caught by mistake

Tell us what kind of data it was and on which AI tool, using made-up values, never the real ones. You can also set that kind of data to Allow or add the exact word to your own words.

A message doesn’t send after “Send redacted”

Press Enter once more. Some AI tools change their message box often; if it keeps happening on one tool, let us know which.

Roll it out to a team

• Google Workspace: Admin console › Devices › Chrome › Apps & extensions › add Tidewall › paste your company policy.
• Microsoft Intune or Group Policy: force-install Tidewall with ExtensionSettings and add the policy under the extension’s 3rdparty key.
• Team customers get a ready-made policy file and a setup call. Get in touch.

Remove Tidewall

Right-click the toolbar icon › Remove from Chrome (or Edge). Everything Tidewall stored in your browser goes with it. If your organisation installed it, ask your IT team.
